Welcome! It's hard to believe it's already our 9th annual Gumbo Gopher 5K race! Each year brings us continued success in supporting families in need.
This year's race will be held on Saturday September 15th starting at the Luke Perman family mailbox just outside of Lowry, SD and ending 3.1 miles northwest near the Lowry Pilgrim Community Church. The race will start at 9:30 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the picnic table across from the church. This is where you will check-in, make sure your waiver is signed, you are paid in full, and receive your race shirt.
All proceeds for our 9th annual 5K will go to the Taelyn Hettick family from Selby, South Dakota. Taelyn will be going into the first grade and recently had a liver transplant. Her parents, Chris and Alexis Hettick are both teachers at the Selby Area school. Taelyn has a big brother and sister. She loves to dance and has battled hard over the last year with liver issues.
We will host a kids race once again. That race will begin at 9am and will have two races, one for 5 and under and another for 6-10 years of age. The kids race is free. If you would like a race shirt for your child of 10 and under it will be an additional $10.
And of course, we will be continuing our tradition of food and fellowship following the race. You won't want to miss it as the array of food is quite amazing. We can't wait to see you there!
